Michelson Laboratories, Inc. is technologically equipped with the
most advanced instrumentation in the industry. All laboratory
equipment is regularly tested and serviced to be sure it meets or
exceeds strict governmental guidelines. In addition, Michelson
Laboratories utilizes an advanced data station for calculating and
storing results, thus ensuring rapid and accurate reporting.
One of the essential instruments in our lab is the Gas
Chromatograph (GC). We utilize Gas chromatographs for many
common analytical procedures, including:
Tests for Nutritional Labeling |
Total Fat Analysis
Cholesterol
Trans Fatty Acid and Fatty Acid Profiles |
Analysis of
Seafood Products |
Methyl Mercury (GC ECD)
Omega 3 & 6 Fatty Acids |
Testing for Candles |
% Paraffin Wax
% Palm oil |

Preservatives |
Sorbic & Benzoic Acids
Propionic Acid |
Others |
Vitamin E (Foods)
Acrylamide
Alcohol Screen
Propylene Glycol |
Another advanced technology instrument we employ is the GC
with Micro ECD (Electron Capture Detector). This is used
extensively to distinguish low levels of Chloramphenicol for FDA
Detention and Non-FDA monitoring as well as PCBs in seafood
products. The GC Micro ECD also provides greater sensitivity for the
analysis of several pesticide compounds. This technology aids us in
rapidly and accurately identifying these compounds so test results
can be quickly returned to the customer.
The High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC) is another
vital instrument we use for a wide range of analyses. The HPLC plays
an important role in nutritional labeling, seafood analysis, testing
of various pesticide residues and many others.

The quality of many seafood species is also routinely determined
through analysis of histamine levels using the Fluorometer
for both FDA Detained and Non-FDA applications.
Our GC Mass Spectrometers (GCMS) are utilized to measure and
identify Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Semi-Volatile Organic
Compounds (SVOCs) and Furan. We also use the GCMS for confirmation
of various compounds.
At Michelson Laboratories, Inc., our state of the art
instrumentation along with our highly skilled and experienced
chemists means our customers can be especially confident in the
quality of their test results.
