TECHNIQUES
Michelson Laboratories, Inc.’s microbiology department is staffed by
industry-leading microbiologists skilled at performing routine
testing to ensure overall product quality. We provide
microbiological testing for food processing at all stages of
production. Our testing programs and professionals provide the tools
necessary to detect and identify pathogenic organisms. Michelson
Laboratories, Inc. offers a wide range of methods to detect
microorganisms, pathogens and many toxins of concern to the food
professional.
Available and operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days
a year, we conduct testing procedures utilizing the sophisticated
technologies of DNA Probe, ELISA, and Impedance. We routinely use
conventional testing methodology including direct plating and
isolation techniques.
We also perform on-site inspections to evaluate your environmental
sanitary conditions. Michelson Laboratories, Inc. provides food
processors the information, programs, and tools necessary to
successfully identify problematic organisms and allows for the
implementation of control measures that help prevent future
contamination. Our state-of-the-art instrumentation, coupled with
decades of industry experience, ensure accurate results in the
shortest possible turn-around time.
We have invested major capitol in instrumentation not normally found
in traditional food microbiology labs. This gives us a decided
advantage in serving our customers using the latest technology,
including, but not limited to:
- Automated instrumentation for microorganism identification using
the Vitek® system.
- Automated Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for pathogen
and toxin screening employing Vidas® technology.
- Impedance instrumentation for rapid turnaround time, using the
Bactometer®.
Michelson Laboratories, Inc would like to announce the addition
of the BAX® Detection System to its Microbiology Laboratory. The
cutting edge technology utilizes genetic-based detection of
pathogens for exceptional accuracy, reliability, and
reproducibility. The majority of large food companies currently
utilize BAX detection to reduce false positive results and minimize
retesting.
The BAX system breaks down samples at the genetic level, using the
power of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify DNA, resulting
in highly accurate bacteria detection in raw ingredients, finished
products, and environmental samples. The BAX method has numerous
approvals including AOAC and the USDA/FSIS, and results can be
obtained as soon as the next day. For more information on how the
BAX Detection System could help your companies needs, please call us
today and find out. In addition, Michelson Laboratories, Inc. carefully applies the
following microbiological methods and processes:
- FDA
- USDA
- SMWW
- USP
- Culture methods
- ELISA technology
- And many more
