Michelson Laboratories, Inc. is a recognized leader among private
testing laboratories. This, in part, is a result of our extensive
experience helping clients meet FDA laboratory and testing
requirements as outlined by FDA guidelines. Our staff of scientists,
technicians and other laboratory personnel is thoroughly trained in
all FDA-approved procedures and protocol, particularly pertaining to
blocklisted items. Our clients rely on our expertise, and we are

Michelson Laboratories, Inc. respects the role we play in a client’s
relationship with the FDA. Our experienced team appreciates how
important it is to adhere to FDA guidelines in sample selection,
analysis, and labeling processes.
Since the inception of the FDA automatic detention program in 1976,
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have recognized Michelson
Laboratories, Inc. for analysis of thousands of detained shipments
of food products. Our laboratory and administrative staff are
available to help customers through every step of the detainment
process. Our experience and reputation, coupled with a thoroughly
capable and well-trained staff, assure both our clients and the FDA
that our test results are accurate and reliable.
We are often called upon to submit reports to the FDA on our
clients’ behalf. Michelson’s technicians are careful to collect and
report all requisite data, including: sample size, quantity,
description, collection date, collection method, identity of the
sampler, and all relevant information required by the FDA.

Michelson Laboratories, Inc.’s FDA Services Department provides
the following analyses:
• Extraneous Material Analyses, including, but not limited to:
o Insects and insect fragments (adults and larvae)
o Spiders, mites and related arthropods
o Animal hairs
o Feathers and feather fragments
o Insect and animal excrement
o Heavy filth (rocks, glass, refuse, etc.)
• Microbiological Analyses include:
o Standard Plate Count
o Coliform Count
o E. coli
o E. coli 0157:H7
o Staphylococcus aureus
o Salmonella
o Listeria Monocytogenes
o Vibrio species
o Shigella
o Yersinia
o Listeria species
o Campylobacter
o Bacillus species
